Furious relatives of a 23-year-old man who died following a brutal assault at a city bar are reported to have dumped the dead body at the home of MDC-T Vice President Elias Mudzuri. The family alleges that the MDC-T Vice President killed their son.
23-year-old Ronald Mukumbira, of Epworth, died on June 10 after he was discharged from the Sally Mugabe Central Hospital following a brutal assault. According to his mother Netsai Mukumbira, just before he died, Ronald specifically named Elias Mudzuri as one of the people who had brutally assaulted him.
Mukumbira told his mother that he had been drinking at the Duriro Pub & Grill in the Workington industrial area which is reportedly owned by Mudzuri.
While at the Duriro Pub, Mukumbira got into a heated altercation with Mudzuri and his companions. The issue degenerated and he was allegedly ganged up on and assaulted by the former Harare mayor, his brother Leonard Mudzuri and other people who are yet to be identified.
Following the death of Mukumbira, the matter was reported to the authorities and police say the matter is still under investigation.
Perhaps, frustrated that Mudzuri has not been arrested for the crime the family decided to take matters into their own hands.
According to online publication Zimlive, the family took his body and dumped it on the verandah of Mudzuri’s rural home in the Four Miles area of Zaka at 6 AM on Wednesday morning. Both Mudzuri and Mukumbira are from Zaka.
The deceased’s mother, Netsai Mukumbira, told the publication,
“We took the body to the Mudzuri homestead this morning. There were people at the homestead, they watched through the curtains. We left the body by the verandah, and we wait and see what they do with it.”
Zimlive reports that Mudzuri has not been reachable to comment on the latest developments.
