A flat housing Mpilo Central Hospital doctors was gutted by fire on Wednesday night damaging property worth more than US$500 000
The cause of the fire, however, is not yet clear but reports suggest that an electrical fault is the major culprit.
The fire affected 39 health workers and their families but luckily no one was seriously injured.
“Terrible things at our hospital. Thixo why us, why?? Mpilo Central Hospital our only pride!! Why!! Gutted!!,” he posted on Twitter Wednesday.
In 2019, a doctors’ flat was destroyed by fire caused by a heater which was left on.
Alternative accommodation for doctors and other staff including radiographers and lab scientists being sought.
