Mother of 5 Commits Suicide Over Lockdown Hardships
45-year-old woman, Mrs Gwenhamo, has reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself on a mango tree behind her house in Gutu.
The brother of the deceased, Christopher M, said the mother-of-five had sometime in 2014 attempted to commit suicide because of hardships, but she was rescued by people who spotted her.
Mrs Gwenhamo is said to have taken her own life in the early hours of Sunday after lamenting that she was finding it difficult to take care of her children, and her first child, is said to be 25 years old and jobless.
“About five years ago, she attempted suicide, but was stopped by people who saw her.
“Late hours on Sunday, when the children woke up to ease themselves, they saw their mother hanging on the mango tree behind their house.
“It is believed that the deceased, during her first suicide attempt, cited hardships as the reason why she wanted to cut her life short,” close source said.
Mrs Gwenhamo has since been laid to rest today and her husband couldn’t stop crying as he kept on saying “Nhai Janet wadarirei?
