There was horror at the Bensam Flats in Gweru in the early hours of Friday after Peter Dube a local businessman went beserk and shot four people. Two people died on the spot while two other people were seriously injured. The media learnt that 35-year-old businessman Peter Dube shot and killed his second wife’s friend Gamuchirai Mudungwe and another male companion, only identified as Shelton. Dube also shot and seriously injured his second wife Nyasha Nharingo (31) and her sister Nyaradzo Nharingo (34).
While the circumstances are yet to be established, sources close to the matter said that Dube was involved in a heated dispute with Nyasha whom he suspected of infidelity. He is said to have been incensed when he learned that his wife and sister together with Gamuchirai and Shelton had travelled to Masvingo together without informing him, ostensibly to collect Nyaradzo’s passport. Sources who talked to CommuTalk told the publication,
“At around 2000hrs, Dube armed with an unknown type of firearm went to number 11 Bensam Flats Main Street where an argument ensued accusing his second wife of having an affair with Shelton.”
According to sources, Gamuchirai was called by her friend and went to the flat to try to help diffuse the situation. Unfortunately, Dube is reported to have gone berserk and started shooting. Gamuchirai was caught in the crossfire and died after being shot in the chest.
